May my masters thesis be useful to the world

Inspired by the IV Peoples' Summit of the Americas taking place this week-end in Port of Spain (April 17 - 19, 2009), I have created this blog to try to share my Masters Thesis with a wider audience, almost two years after its completion. Entitled "A Deep Expression of Hope: The Role of the Hemispheric Social Alliance in Constructing Alternatives to the US Model of Regional Integration", my thesis tells the story of how the Peoples' Summits were critical spaces for organizing the defeat of the FTAA/ NAFTA-model of trade, as well as building alternatives in Latin America. Organized by the Hemispheric Social Alliance starting in 1998, the Peoples' Summits are a counter-summit to the official meeting of the leaders of the Americas, called the "Summit of the Americas", which, in Hugo Chavez's words, "were born to impose the FTAA".
